This handsome, richly illustrated volume explores the history and architecture of the Library's first building, opened in 1897, which is in itself an American treasure. The book features 185 full-color photographs of the recently renovated and reopened Thomas Jefferson Building, most of them taken by noted photographer Anne Day especially for this volume. Historic black-and-white photographs document the building's first one hundred years. The volume was published to celebrate the centennial of the building's opening on November 1, 1897.
