Historical Artifacts: Stereoviews

At one time, stereoview cards were found in most middle-class American homes. From 1850 until the 1920s, the three-dimensional effect of looking at the side-by-side photographs through a stereoscope gave armchair travelers a sense of what the Capitol and its rooms looked like.
