Coats Statement on Indiana Adjutant General Martin Umbarger

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Senator Coats today issued the following statement regarding Governor-elect Mike Pence’s announcement to reappoint Indiana Adjutant General Martin Umbarger:

“General Umbarger is one of the most respected adjutant generals in the country and a valuable leader in Indiana. He has served Indiana and our country with integrity and always puts his guardsman and their families first. I applaud Governor-elect Pence for his decision to reappoint General Umbarger to lead Indiana’s National Guard, and I look forward to continuing to work with him.”

Major General Umbarger has served as adjutant general since 2004. Indiana is home to the sixth largest National Guard force in the country.
