Scope: This Web Archive contains websites of Representatives, Senators and Delegates of the 107th Congress (2001 - 2002). Each Member's Congressional office is solely responsible for its own web site, as is each Committee of Congress.
Members of Congress from the District of Columbia, the Virgin Islands, Guam, and American Samoa are called delegates. The representative from Puerto Rico is the resident commissioner. Delegates are elected for a two-year term. The resident commissioner serves a four-year term. These Members of Congress may vote in committees, participate in debates and make speeches on the floor.
The 107th Congress Web Archive is a one-time capture of the Web pages for Members of 107th Congress as well as House, Senate and Joint committees. Access to the collection is done by using a browse or a keyword search. The Browse search offers access by name of the Representative, Delegate, Commissioner, or Senator, by Committee name, or State.
The 107th Congress dealt with many issues including the aftermath of the terrorists bombings of the World Trade Center and the Pentagon in 2001; the establishment of a new government agency on Homeland Security and its corresponding congressional committee; and many other critical issues.
This collection is part of a continuing effort by the Library of Congress to evaluate, select, collect, catalog, provide access to, and preserve digital materials for future generations of researchers.
