(Jan 19, 2011) On January 3, 2011, the Knesset (Israel's Parliament) passed an amendment to the Patent Law 5727-1967. Prior to its amendment, the Law required the publication of various announcements, including patent registration requests and approvals, in the official publication YOMAN HAPATENTIM (Patent Registry, Part "Rashumot," OFFICIAL GAZETTE).

The replacement of the paper publication by digital media on the website of the Registrar of Patents is expected to improve and expedite registration, objections and other procedures. Such publication will be free of charge and will guarantee the accessibility of patent-related data. (Patent Law 5727-1967, SEFER HA-HUKIM 5727, at 148, as amended; Patent Law (Amendment No. 8) 5771-2011 & bill, the Knesset website, http://www.knesset.gov.il/privatelaw/data/18/3/518_3_1.rtf; http://www.knesset.gov.il/Laws/Data/BillGoverment/51
