Recovery.gov - Track the Money

Recovery.gov is the U.S. government's official website that provides easy access to data
related to Recovery Act spending and allows for the reporting of potential fraud, waste, and abuse.

 Oversight Actions

The Recovery Board encourages the public to report suspected  fraud, waste, or abuse involving Recovery funds.  All reports are closely reviewed, and if any warrant investigation, they are referred to the appropriate Inspector General.

From February 2009 to October 31, 2012,  the Inspectors General have reported 3,966 complaints of wrongdoing associated with Recovery funds to the Recovery Board.

  • 1,982 have triggered open investigations
  • 774 cases were closed without action

In that time, the Inspectors General have also completed 2,699 reviews of activity involving Recovery funds, many of which have resulted in recommendations to the agencies for improving the management of these funds. 

To ensure that legal and administrative requirements of  Recovery programs are met, the Inspectors General offer training. 

In addition , the Council of the Inspectors General on Integrity and Efficiency (CIGIE) conducts oversight of federal agencies' implementation of the  Recovery Act. The most recent report  is below.
