    Sen. Paul Statement on Fiscal Cliff Negotiation

    "It's impossible to get to any deal on the fiscal cliff when Majority Leader Reid and President Obama refuse to consider meaningful cuts in spending. They are demanding we raise taxes on working families and small businesses - and worse - using these tax increases for more government spending," Sen. Paul said. "Sending more taxpayer dollars to Washington isn't the solution to this situation; cutting wasteful government spending and enabling Americans to keep more of their own money is."

    Senate Votes on Paul Amendment to Offset Cost of Funding Package

    This afternoon, the U.S. Senate voted on a series of amendments to H.R.1, the Emergency Supplemental Appropriations Bill, to fund disaster relief for victims of Hurricane Sandy. Among these amendments was one introduced by Sen. Rand Paul, which would offset the cost of the funding bill by reducing foreign aid, among other programs. The amendment, No. 3410, failed passage, XX-3.

    Senate Votes on Waiving Davis-Bacon for Sandy Contracts

    This afternoon, the U.S. Senate voted on a series of amendments to H.R.1, the Emergency Supplemental Appropriations Bill, to fund disaster relief for victims of Hurricane Sandy. Among these amendments was one introduced by Sen. Rand Paul, which would waive the Davis-Bacon prevailing wage law from applying to projects funded in this bill.The amendment, No. 3376, failed passage, 42-52.

    Senate Votes on Fourth Amendment Protection Act

    This evening, the U.S. Senate voted on amendments to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act Amendments Act Reauthorization Act of 2012, H.R.5949, including one introduced by Sens. Rand Paul and Mike Lee (R-Utah). The amendment, known as the Fourth Amendment Protection Act extends Fourth Amendment guarantees to electronic communications and requires specific warrants granted through FISA courts in order to obtain this information. The amendment failed, 79-12.
