Preliminary Inventories for Special, Select, and Joint Committees

The following table contains preliminary inventories, checklists, or lists of House Special, Select, and Joint Committees. Preliminary inventories were prepared by staff at the National Archives as soon as possible after they received the records in order to gain administrative control over them and facilitate use by internal staff. As such, they contain only brief descriptions of the history or function of the committee, series level description, and the initial arrangement of the records when they were received. Additional significant information may be found in appendices to the preliminary inventories.
