Update on May 11 Technology Hearing

The Copyright Office has posted additional information pertaining to the May 11 Technology Hearing in its rulemaking proceeding pertaining to exemptions from the prohibition against circumvention of technological measures that control access to copyrighted works. The information may be found at www.copyright.gov/1201/hearing-request/.

The deadline for requests to participate in the Technology Hearing and request to testify in the subsequent hearings from May 31 to June 6 is Monday, April 2, 2012 at 5:00 p.m. EDT.

May 11, 2012

Hearing in Washington, D.C., on possible exemptions to the prohibition against circumvention of technological measures that control access to copyrighted works. This hearing will be confined to demonstrations of technology.

May 14, 2012

Due date for comments on new fee schedule.

May 17-18, 2012

Hearing in Los Angeles, California, on possible exemptions to the prohibition against circumvention of technological measures that control access to copyrighted works.

May 31-June 1
and June 4-June 6, 2012

Hearing in Washington, D.C., on possible exemptions to the prohibition against circumvention of technological measures that control access to copyrighted works.
July 1, 2012

Effective date of discontinuance of Form CO and removal from regulations of references to CON1 and CON2.
