Copyright Office Proposes Revised Fees for Filing of Cable and Satellite Statements of Account

Following feedback from interested parties, the Copyright Office is proposing a revised fee schedule for filing cable and satellite statements of account. The Satellite Television and Localism Act of 2010 granted authority to the Office to establish fees for filing statements under the section 111, 119, and 122 statutory licenses of the copyright law. The Office proposed initial fees in a March 28, 2012, notice of rulemaking based on a study of costs to the Office to process cable and satellite statements. In light of comments received from affected stakeholders, and because the fees for filing cable and satellite statements are being set for the first time, the Office conducted a second cost study using a revised methodology to more precisely capture costs. To comment on the revised fee schedule, go to www.copyright.gov/docs/newfees/comments. Submit comments electronically no later than 5 p.m. EST January 7, 2013. Submit reply comments no later than 5 p.m. EST January 22, 2013. For more information, go to www.copyright.gov/fedreg/2012/77fr72788.pdf.
