SummaryThe collection consists of manuscript materials, sound recordings, and photographs documenting the performance of French Canadian music and dance, including step dancing; Polish-style polka, old-time music, bluegrass music, Bengali music, vallenato-style Colombian music, and gospel music recorded live outdoors on Neptune Plaza in front of the Thomas Jefferson Building, Library of Congress, at concerts from April through September 1989, sponsored by the American Folklife Center and the National Council for the Traditional Arts. Concerts were broadcast live on WAMU-FM, hosted by Dick Spottswood. Manuscripts include some correspondence and program flyers autographed by the performers.
