Just as our president must consult with Congress before sending our brave troops into combat, so too must our nation fully consider the costs and obligations we assume when we engage in something as serious as war.
"I truly believe … that before we put our young people in harm’s way that people in the Congress should be able to explain to their constituents that our national security was in jeopardy," said Rangel.
Rangel said GOP efforts to cut are a campaign pledge that Republicans should abandon because it would hurt too many Americans.
