Talking Blogging

I kind of despise self-promotion (you wouldn’t know it though, right?), but I’m always happy to talk with folks when they ask about the blog—why we do it, what we’re learning, etc.

Such as this recent interview with Municipalist. And I’m sure the Boss will love the plug for his book!

    Considering that blogging typically informal discussion between readers and the writer(s), why don’t writers put up some photos of themselves?

    ie. Why don’t I see a photo of Matt Raymond when I click over to the municipalist?

    Stop hiding behind your writing! :)

    I just stumbled onto this blog a couple of weeks ago. I wondered who was doing the blogging and what the philosophy behind it was. I almost asked as a comment but didnt wan’t to get out of context. Too bad we don’t see more blogs in government or educational institutes.

    I think a government agency taking the time to maintain a blog is great. It shows transparency and effort. Kepp up the good work.

    Matt, it would be useful if you could add a way to contact you about general issues. For example, you are the press contact for the announcement concerning the LOC and Microsoft announcement of “Agreement to Support New Interactive Experience for Visitors” which I found at http://www.loc.gov/today/pr/2008/08-009.html.

    It would be nice if there were a way to provide feedback to you via the web or email about such things. In particular, I would venture to guess that there are a lot of people who would like to contact you about the inappropriateness of not using open standards to store government documents, especially something as important as your archives.

    In the september 30,2006 National Book Festival poster it does not include the letter “L” and i am very concerned. please get back as soon as possible

    How would you explain the fact that blogging by librarians is so popular in the USA? Here in EU it is hard to find some real good blogs.

    Anonymous, very perceptive. But if you look a little closer at the poster, the Washington Monument and the giant book that is lying open on the ground do indeed form an “L,” for “Library.”
