      I am intrigued by her necklace - does anybody know more about this type of jewelry? Is it technically a "mourning necklace," or is she simply wearing her best jewelry because because she's in mourning? Are they lockets, and are they hanging from ribbon or beads?

      i don't specifically know that it's called, gcordell, but mourning jewelry was a very big trend in the early victorian era. usually lockets with hair, but also rings and other trinkets, often quite maudlin or dark.
