Yeah, they had airplanes. No jets yet, . that was a technology that came from the War, but there were some airplanes around as early as WWI!

Yes t,here were planes in 1940 how do you think Pearl Harbor was bombed by the Japanese in 1941. The Wright Brother flew the first plane in 1903!
