National Book Festival

The author of “100 Best Books for Children” and “500 Great Books for Teens,” Anita Silvey has devoted 40 years to promoting books that will turn young people -- and families -- into readers. Her lifelong interest has led her to appear on NPR, “The Today Show,” “60 Minutes” and many radio programs in the United States and Canada. Silvey’s conviction that “only the very best of anything can be good enough for the young” forms the cornerstone of all her work. She was editor-in-chief of The Horn Book, known as the Bible of children’s literature criticism, for 11 years. Silvey will appear with Hope Larson and Leonard Marcus in a program celebrating the 50th anniversary of the classic fantasy tale “A Wrinkle in Time” by Madeleine L’Engle.
