National Book Festival

Corey Olsen is a professor in the English Department of Washington College, a liberal arts institution in Chestertown, Md. He teaches courses on Chaucer, courtly love, Arthurian literature, the Bible, Greco-Roman mythology and a full-semester course on the works of J.R.R. Tolkien. In 2011, encouraged by his enthusiastic Tolkien Professor podcast listeners, he established the Mythgard Institute, an organization that promotes teaching and research in Tolkien studies, fantasy literature and related fields. Olsen has just published “Exploring J.R.R. Tolkien’s ‘The Hobbit’” (Houghton Mifflin).
