Marilynne Robinson’s first novel, “Housekeeping” was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize; in 2005 she won the prize for her second novel, “Gilead,” which has received universal praise. Robinson has also published numerous essays, book reviews and nonfiction books. She has been writer-in-residence or visiting professor at many universities, including the University of Kent, Amherst, and the University of Massachusetts. Robinson currently teaches at the University of Iowa Writers Workshop. Her new book of essays is “When I Was a Child I Read Books” (Farrar, Straus & Giroux).
