General notes:
"Recording of these shanties was difficult because of the limitations of the
microphone and the singers' shy desire to huddle together. So the
contrast in volume was levelled out by building up the volume as the
shantymen sang and reducing it while the chorus came in. The men
moved about and also moved their heads, so the recording is very
irregular."
