Internet Subscription Services

The Internet subscription services described below are fee-based; they are freely available at the Library of Congress, and at other institutions which have paid to make them available to researchers working onsite. In order to access these sites, a researcher must go to an institution (like the Library of Congress) which subscribes to them, or subscribe to the services themselves from home (which can be somewhat costly). A list of selected free genealogy websites, which are freely available to anyone with Internet access, is maintained by the Local History and Genealogy Section.
