SUMMARY
Establishes Lafayette National Park, superseding Sieur de Monts National Monument, on Mount Desert Island in Maine.

NOTES
This Act creates the first national park east of the Mississippi. Its name was changed to Acadia National Park when it was expanded in 1929 (45 Stat. 1083).

Sieur de Monts National Monument had been created by a Presidential proclamation of July 8, 1916 (39 Stat. 1785).
