Information for Researchers - Using the Library of Congress

Copying Services

Self-service debit card-operated copiers and change machines are available to serve researchers in most reading rooms. Prices vary depending on the material to be copied and the machine to be used. Visa and Mastercard are accepted by the Library's Photoduplication Service, which can provide a wide range of reproductions of the Library's collections, such as single-page photocopies, microforms, or color slides. The ability of the Library to furnish reproductions is subject to copyright law and certain other restrictions; however, every effort will be made to fulfill requests. The Photoduplication Service is open 9:00 A.M. to 4:45 P.M. Monday through Friday. Further information about products, services, and prices can be obtained by contacting:

The Library is primarily a research library, so its lending is restricted to official borrowers or to interlibrary loans to government agency libraries. Under certain conditions, the Library lends material from its collections to other libraries for the use of their readers.
