AFC 1941/022: Chilean Folk Music
Eleven 12-inch discs of Chilean folk music, including cuecas and tonadas, birimbao, guitar and vocal performances, and the National Song of Chile, recorded in Santiago, Chile, by Santa Cruz, 1940. AFC 1941/032: Chilean Folk Music
Thirty-one 12-inch discs of chamber, orchestral and traditional Chilean music including anthems, cantos, a cello concerto, Christmas carols, lullabies, marches, a suite for strings, tonadas, tragic poems and waltzes. Recorded in Santiago, Chile, by Santa Cruz, 1940. The collection includes a 1-page song list including titles and performers. AFC 1942/007: Seamus Doyle South American Recordings
Fifty-three 12-inch discs of music recorded in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Peru, and Uruguay, by Seamus Doyle, July-September, 1941, while Doyle was on tour with the Kirstein American Ballet Group. The collection includes Doyle's 6-page journal entitled "Report on the collection of folk music in South America", and a detailed song list including performers, titles, genres, recording dates and locations. AFS 5726-5730: Five discs containing 19 traditional Chilean folk songs, recorded in Santiago, Chile, August-September 1941. (30 minutes; preservation tape LWO 4872 reels 385B-386A)

AFC 1960/002: Rolando Alarcon Recordings of Chilean Music
One 10-inch tape of 16 traditional Chilean songs performed by Rolando Alarcón, as collected by his professors, Margot Loyola and Violeta Parra, the Conjunto Cuncumén, and Gabriela Pizarro. Recorded at the Library of Congress, Washington, D.C., March 15, 1960. The collection includes a 1-page song list with titles and descriptions. (50 minutes; LWO 3064 reel 1) (AFS 11,621)

AFC 1968/011: Maria Ester Grebe Collection on Chilean Folksongs
One 10-inch tape of field recordings of 18 songs, accompanied by guitar. Songs are based on five 10-line stanzas in the décima de Espinel pattern, sung by Carlos Marambio (father) age 33 and Carlos Wenceslas Marambio (son) age 11, who are from Pedro de Melipilla, Chile. This form is discussed in Grebe's work, The Chilean verso: a study in musical archaism, 1967, a copy of which is included in the collection. Also included are three articles (offprints) on Latin American and Chilean music by ethnomusicologist and folklorist María Ester Grebe dated 1967-1969. AFC 1948/006: Charles Seeger Collection of Festival Folklorico Universidad de Chile
One 12-inch disc of 4 traditional Chilean songs from the Festival Folklórico at the University of Chile. Recorded in Santiago, Chile, by Charles Seeger, August 1946. (6 minutes; tape copy on LWO 5111 reel 81B) (includes AFS 8024A)

One 7-inch tape of 27 traditional Chilean songs. Donated by the Instituto de Investigaciones Folklóricas at the University of Chile in 1953. (LWO 2136) (includes AFS 10,753)

Part 23: Africa, Europe, Far East, Latin America, etc.
One 3-inch tape, 22 5-inch tapes; 344 7-inch tapes of music from Africa, Europe, Far East, Middle East, Near East, North America, South America, and Southeast Asia recorded by Laura Boulton between 1949 and 1961.

AFC 2005/008: Luiz Heitor Corrêa de Azevedo Collection on Latin American Folklore
Publications pertaining to Latin American folklore and musical traditions from the library of Luiz Heitor Corrêa de Azevedo, Brazilian folklorist and musicologist. The collection includes monographs, articles, bibliographies, conference proceedings, and other publications about folk music, musical instruments, popular music, dance, folklore, food traditions, proverbs, children's folklore, traditional and folk medicine, local religious celebrations (including Christmas, Epiphany, and Easter) and devotions to various saints, Cuban santeria, Afro-Brazilian traditions, and anthropological studies of indigenous people of Brazil, among other topics. Publications are predomiantly about Brazilian culture but include significant works on folk culture in Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, Mexico, Paraguay, Puerto Rico, Uruguay, and Venezuela.
