FILM AND VIDEO TRANSFER RATES

Effective May 2012

The MBRS Division offers duplication to a variety of film, video, and file formats. In every instance, pre-payment is required. Credit cards and checks only. Shipping charges for physical media are paid by customer.

All transfer rates have a 30-minute minimum with 15-minute increments thereafter.

Duplication requests must be for an entire reel/tape/file. No individual segments of source material may be requested.

$25 per item surcharge for litigation orders.

FILM TRANSFER RATES ($250/hour)
Standard Rate: approximately 6-8 weeks

  • Transfer time is double the runtime of requested footage
  • $20 set-up charge on all orders ($50 for conversions to PAL).
  • $15 surcharge for all reel changes (after the first 4)
  • $15 gate change surcharge for orders with both 35mm and 16mm reels.
  • All orders include a charge for an HDCAM preservation tape for the Library’s collection [link to HDCAM stock charges]
  • No RUSH service on film transfers.         

To TAPE/DVD

  • Stock price not included in transfer
  • Additional $109/hour of footage for HDCAM transfers

To DIGITAL FILES

  • Please specify the digital file format requested
  • Additional $109/hour of footage for High Definition digitization

VIDEO (TAPE/FILE) TRANSFER RATES ($109/hour)
Standard Rate: 5-7 business days
Rush Rate: 1-4 business days

  • $20 set-up charge on all orders ($50 for conversions to PAL)
  • $6.50 surcharge for all tape/file changes (after the first 4)
  • $15 format change surcharge for orders with multiple tape formats
  • $75 per item surcharge for RUSH orders. Rush service not guaranteed, but considered on a case-by-case basis depending on volume of orders already received.

  • Please specify the digital file format requested

FILE FORMATS

Please be as specific as possible when requesting a digital file format. Include any necessary details for our video technicians, including codec, bit-rate or color information.

All HD film transfers are created at 1080p 23.98fps with a 1:1 frame ratio for preservation. Requests for HD files will always be provided at this frame rate and speed.

We do not offer upconversion from standard definition.
