Images in the James Goode Collection may be restricted

Access: Permitted; subject to P&P policy on serving originals.

Reproduction (photocopying, hand-held camera copying, photoduplication and other forms of copying allowed by "fair use"): Permitted; subject to P&P policy on copying.

Publication and other forms of distribution: May be restricted. Images in the James Goode collection were gathered by author James Goode in the course of researching and illustrating his books, Capital Losses: A Cultural History of Washington's Destroyed Buildings (Smithsonian, 1979), and Best Addresses: A Century of Washington's Distinguished Apartment Houses (Smithsonian, 1988). The Library cataloged the collection in two parts, LOT 11800 (Capital Losses) and LOT 12013 (Apartment Houses). The captions found with the photographs in the LOTS and in the negative caption shelflist include the source of each image and whether it is restricted. If restricted, permission to publish the image should be obtained from the credited source. Privacy and publicity rights may also apply.
