U.S.S. Gloucester

The U.S.S. Gloucester was the first ship to dock in Puerto Rico, at the southern port of Guánica. This was the beginning of the invasion of the island, led by General Miles. The ship was captained by Adm. Wainwright (the former second-in-command on the U. S. S. Maine) and was formerly a yacht, owned by J.P. Morgan, that had been converted to military use.
