Judge Roberts Reappointed

Dr. James H. Billington, Librarian of Congress, reappointed Judge William J. Roberts to a six-year term as United States Copyright Royalty Judge. The Librarian surveyed the public most familiar with the work of the Judge and considered the positive response in making the appointment. Judge Roberts was appointed to a two-year term on January 11, 2006, after serving as senior attorney for compulsory licenses in the Copyright General Counsel office.

He entered the Copyright Office in 1987 as an attorney advisor. Judge Roberts was the attorney for the Copyright Arbitration Royalty Panel for the entire 12 years it existed. He is a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law and serves as an adjunct member of the faculty at George Mason University School of Law, teaching copyright law.
