Learn how CDC fights global HIV/AIDS

With over 60 years of expertise in fighting diseases, CDC plays a critical role in helping Ministries of Health in partner countries build strong, sustainable programs that respond effectively to the HIV/AIDS epidemic. CDC is a key partner in the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) and is supporting over 75 countries.

Recent scientific breakthroughs now point the way to achieving an AIDS-free generation.
CDC works side-by-side with Ministries of Health and other local and international partners to apply these findings to halt new HIV infections and turn the tide on this 30-year epidemic that has taken millions of lives and weakened the economic and political stability of nations. Ensuring global health means a safer, more prosperous, and secure world community that benefits Americans at home and abroad.
