Shopping Online

PAYMENT AND BILLING: We accept Master Card, Visa, American Express, and Discover credit cards. All orders must be fully pre-paid before shipment.

ORDERING: All in stock orders will usually be processed the following business day. This means that all orders placed on Friday afternoon, Saturday or Sunday, will be processed on Monday. Please allow an additional 5 days for print orders as they are printed on demand at an off site location.

RETURNS AND EXCHANGES
If you are not completely satisfied with your purchase, or it has been damaged during transit, you may return it within 30 calendar days from receipt for a replacement or a full refund of the product price. Item must be returned in saleable condition and original packaging. We will send you a return shipping label only if the item was damaged during transit, defective or incorrectly supplied.

Books and Media:
Books, CDs and DVDs are easily returned to The Library of Congress within 30 days of receipt for a full refund of the product price. Item(s) must be unopened and still in the plastic wrap.

Graphics:
Unframed prints, photographs and posters are easily returned to The Library of Congress within 30 days of receipt of shipment for a full refund of the product price.

Custom framed graphics are special orders and cannot be returned unless damaged during transit or defective.

Gift Certificates

  1. Go to www.loc.gov/shop and browse or search for an item you want to buy.
  2. Once you've selected your gift, click on checkout.
  3. On the Shipping Form, you'll see a field that says "Enter the Coupon or Gift Certificate Code." Make sure that you enter the complete gift certificate code. It must start with the "@" sign.
  4. If you have more than one gift certificate for loc.gov/shop, you can enter all of the codes separated by commas.
  5. If you have enough funds on the gift certificate to cover the cost of your order you won't be required to enter any credit card information.
  6. If you don't have enough funds on your gift certificate to cover your entire order, you will be required to pay the remaining balance by credit card.

The Library Shop

The Library of Congress maintains a retail store in Washington DC in the Library's Jefferson Building. Please visit us when you vacation or travel for business in the Nation's Capitol. The hours of the Library Shop are 9:30am – 5:00pm Monday through Saturday, closed on Sundays and federal holidays.

Shipping Information

SHIPPING AND HANDLING: Your order will be sent via Federal Express. With our standard shipping charges, your in-stock items will arrive at your door within 3 business days after being shipped. You will receive an email confirmation from FedEx once your order has been shipped, and again when it is delivered.

U.S. Customers (including Alaska and Hawaii):

Up to $25.00, shipping will be $5.95
$25.01 to $50.00, shipping will be $8.95
$50.01 to $75.00, shipping will be $11.95
$75.01 to $100.00, shipping will be $14.95
$100.01 to $200.00, shipping will be $17.95
For orders over $200.00, shipping will be $20.95

If you need expedited shipping, we offer the following options:

FedEx 2Day Express: Afternoon delivery, second business day
$9.00 in addition to standard shipping charge

FedEx Priority Overnight: Mid-morning delivery, next business day
$16.00 in addition to standard shipping charge

International Customers:

A shipping charge of $12.00 will be added to standard charges for shipping to Canada, Australia and the UK. For other international destinations, please contact us at Contact Us for pricing and conditions.

SHIPPING TO MULTIPLE ADDRESSES: Our on-line store ordering system cannot split an order for shipments to more than one address. If you would like to ship items to multiple addresses, please place a separate order for each address. All applicable delivery and handling charges will be charged for each order.

  6. Can I call LOCSHOP to place an order?
    Yes. Phone orders are accepted and are subject to the same security provisions as web orders. Call (888) 682-3557 between 8:30am and 4:30pm Monday through Friday.
  7. If I place an order over the weekend, when can I expect to receive it?
    In stock items will be processed early Monday morning and shipped within 24 hours. In the event the following Monday falls on a federal holiday, it will be shipped on Tuesday.
