Librarian of Congress, Dr. James H. Billington, named Natasha Trethewey as the Library of Congress' 2012-2013 Poet Laureate Consultant. Trethewey has amassed numerous awards. She is currently serving as the Poet Laureate of her native Mississippi and earned a Pulitzer Prize in Poetry in 2007. E.J. Bellocq's photographed prostitutes in the red-light district of turn-of-the century New Orleans, inspired Trethewey to imagine the life of Ophelia.
