Overview

The new registration initiative for Citizen Corps Councils and CERT Programs has begun!

The registration effort will help better connect the public to Councils and will provide a snapshot of community activities and initiatives that support disaster resilience. Local Council Profiles are posted on the National Citizen Corps website and are viewable by the public.

PRIVACY ACT STATEMENT

Authority:   5 U.S.C. 301; Executive Order 13254, “Establishing the USA Freedom Corps”

(January 29, 2002).

Purpose:  FEMA is collecting this information to provide state and local contact information for Citizen Corps Councils and Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Programs to members of the public who are interested in becoming more prepared and/or for getting involved in community activities.  This information also showcases the capabilities of each local Council and CERT Program as well as recognizes them as an approved entity within the state. 

Routine Uses: This information may be disclosed as generally permitted under 5 U.S.C. § 552a(b) of the Privacy Act of 1974, as amended, including disclosing this information as necessary and authorized by the routine uses published in DHS/ALL– 006 Citizen Corps Database (December 19, 2008, 73 FR 77785) (http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/FR-2008-12-19/html/E8-29809.htm) and upon written request, by agreement, or as required by law.

Disclosure: Furnishing this information is voluntary; however if you choose not to provide the information, FEMA may be unable to complete your Citizen Corps or CERT registration or exchange information about, or facilitate your involvement in Citizen Corps or CERT initiatives.
