15 Staff Selections from the FSA-OWI Collection

No one can work long with Farm Security Administration/Office of War Information photographs without developing some personal favorites. One of the pleasures of using the collection lies in sharing "finds" with others. The development of this American Memory site offered the members of the Prints and Photographs Division reference staff a much-appreciated opportunity to share some of their favorites with the public. Some of the selections were described as "fun," others as "haunting." Still others were images whose proven appeal was so great that staff felt they should not be missed, thus demonstrating the difficulty of limiting the number of popular images in the collection to a mere "15 Popular Requests".

These images were specially digitized for these special presentations. Some are part of a negative series that is not yet available online. The rest of the negative series will be available in the future as digitization of the collection continues. New images will be added quarterly.
