Built in America

Acknowledgments

Preparing the on-line presentation of two collections as complex and as large as Built in America: Historic American Buildings Survey/Historic American Engineering Record/Historic American Landscapes Survey required contributions from staff at both the Library of Congress and the HABS/HAER/HALS Division of the National Park Service (NPS). Historical background texts and many Image Gallery captions were developed by NPS HABS/HAER/HALS and Prints & Photographs staff. The logistics of displaying both the records in the National Park Service Catalog and the digital images of documentation from the Library were developed through a collaborative effort of staff from the Library's Information Technology Services and Prints & Photographs Division. Web page design and layout was created by National Digital Library Program staff. Other tasks incorporating collections' maintenance, copyright assessment, and overall production logistics were coordinated between Prints & Photographs Division, National Digital Library Program, and NPS staff.

The first phase of digitization of the Historic American Engineering Record Collection was made possible by the generous support of the Shell Oil Company Foundation.
