Film Chronology of Roosevelt and His Times

1901 - 1904

In his first term as president, Roosevelt was often in front of the camera, openly engaging journalists and filmmakers. He traveled widely in his duties, and is shown in these films attending an Army-Navy football game in Philadelphia, greeting a foreign dignitary (Prince Henry of Prussia), appearing at the Charleston and St. Louis expositions, and touring San Francisco. By the end of his first term, he was nominated as the Republican presidential candidate for the next election, while Judge Alton B. Parker was the Democratic candidate.
