The renowned novelist Dhusvam Sayami was born on May 24, 1930 in Kathmandu. He obtained his Master's degree in Culture from Banaras Hindu University. He has written several novels in Hindi, along with scores of articles, stories and poems in Newari, Nepali, Hindi, and English. He has published in Indian Hindi newspapers and magazines such as Aj, Kahani, Sapthahik, Hindustan, and Kadambari. Some of his novels have been translated into Czech and Bulgarian.

He was one of the founder members and life members of Chosaspasa (an organization of Newar writers) and president of the Sahityakar Samsad.

His most popular work in the Newari language is the novel Ganki, which has been translated into Nepali, English, and Hindi. Other popular works in the Newari language include the novels Jibhvatim ji satah, Makha, Palpasa, and, Phisahya lisah, Tisa.

The Library of Congress has nineteen works by him in its collections.
