A GALLERY. A WORKSHOP. A COMMUNITY OF ARTISTS.
Grantimage

Posted | 12.27.11
iPhoneArt.com is a place where iPhoneographers come to discuss their work, collaborate with one another, learn about apps, and share what they have made. The IPA community is built around the idea that all artists can improve their craft by engaging in discourse with others, offering critiques and comments, and being open to receive them. It is a place where long-term artistic relationships are created, and where the more advanced artists mentor and encourage those who are new to the field. We have strict upload limits, so the work posted here at IPA is the best that each artist has to offer after careful consideration. IPA is a supportive, welcoming community of highly talented, intelligent artists focused on developing their artistic skills and helping one another become better: Each day offers something surprising and new. IPA is also dedicated to providing exhibition opportunities, financial support, international recognition, and promotional opportunities for its active members. The annual IPA Mobile Art Grant, currently juried by Jane Deering, a long time curator and gallery owner exhibiting the work of established and emerging artists in the US and Europe, will award $1000 to the best artist of the year, and will feature the top 3 awardees in IPA's International Exhibition in August. IPA is also assembling a book featuring the most influential mobile artists of 2011, including the top 20 grant finalists. The International, Interactive Exhibition in Los Angeles will open on August 18, 2012. The work will be exhibited in Arena 1 of the Santa Monica Art Studios: a giant 2,400 square foot exhibition space, where cutting edge contemporary art is featured in shows organized by curators across the globe. Arena 1 is part of a 22,000 square foot airplane hangar, converted into an exhibition and studio space for leading Los Angeles artists in 2003. This will be the first mobile art exhibit inside the hangar, attracting gallery owners and art buyers from throughout the greater Los Angeles area. Check our AWARDS page for more details in the coming months. And in the meantime – we hope you will introduce yourself to the community and share some of your work. We can’t wait to see what you create!
