Mr. Lacock submitted the following resolution, which was read and passed to the second reading:

Resolved, That the Secretary of the Senate pay, out of the contingent fund of the Senate, to Tobias Simpson, two hundred dollars, in consideration of his uniform good conduct, and particularly for his exertions to save the public property in the Capitol, both before and after the destruction thereof by the enemy.

The resolution last mentioned was read the second time, by unanimous consent, and considered as in committee of the whole; and no amendment having been proposed thereto,

On the question, “Shall this resolution be engrossed and read a third time?”

It was determined in the affirmative; and,

The resolution having been reported by the committee correctly engrossed, was read a third time, by unanimous consent; and,

Resolved, That this resolution pass.
