AIR FORCE MEN WIN 9TH STRAIGHT GOLD; NAVY WOMEN AT TOP IN GOLF



USAF Men Win Armed Forces Gold MedalNAS Jacksonville, FL – Despite the rain and tough course conditions, two records would be broken. 

The 2012 Armed Forces Championship was held 4-10 October with teams from across the Services.  The Air Force Men dominated the tournament with 9-under par and a 65-stroke lead to take the team gold for their ninth consecutive year.

USAF’s Andy Aduddell would break the tournament record scoring 20-under par with a score of 268, while Thomas Whitney would break the course record posting a 64 (8-under par) in round 3.  Aduddell and Whitney placed first and second respectively with Marine Corps’ Addison Lambeth taking the bronze. 

Women's Gold Medalist USAF Maj. Linda Jeffery with NAS Jacksonville CO, CAPT Bob SandersUSAF’s Major Linda Jeffery continued her winning ways capturing women’s gold once again at the Armed Forces Championship and earned her fifth trip to the CISM Golf Championship. 

The Navy women started the tournament strong and finished 13 strokes ahead of the Air Force to win the team gold.  The Navy women were lead by Nicole Johnson who earned the silver will join Jeffery on the US Armed Forces Team that will compete at the CISM Championship also held at NAS Jacksonville from 11-19 October. 

Eleven nations include the U.S. will compete in the 7th installment of the Conseil International du Sport Militaire World Military Golf Championship.  Joining the U.S. will be:  Bahrain, Canada, Estonia, Germany, Italy, Namibia, The Netherlands, Pakistan, Spain, and Zambia.
