(Washington, DC) –Today U.S. Senator Dean Heller (R-NV) was named to the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs and the Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs. He will also maintain posts on the Energy and Natural Resources Committee; the Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee; and the Special Committee on Aging.

“Nevada has been at the top of the list when it comes to foreclosures. It is critical that Congress works effectively to help provide relief for those that have fallen victim to abusive lending practices. Serving on the Banking Committee will allow me to more effectively advocate for people in the Silver State struggling to pay their mortgages. Having previously served on the House Committee on Financial Services, I have dealt with these issues and will continue to advocate for homeowners in Nevada,” said Senator Dean Heller.

“Nevada is home to one of the fastest-growing populations of veterans in the United States. Providing the most comprehensive treatment is one of our nation’s most important responsibilities when it comes to the men and women who served in our Armed Forces. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve on the Veterans’ Affairs Committee to continue fighting for the nearly 230,000 heroes that call the Silver State home,” Heller said.

Heller will continue to serve as Nevada’s representative to the Energy and Natural Resources Committee; the Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee; and the Special Committee on Aging.

“My top priorities in the U.S. Senate continue to be economic growth and job creation. It’s important that we address rising energy prices, ensure that our transportation needs are met, encourage a regulatory climate that does not impede interstate commerce and fulfill the promises our nation has made to our aging population. I’m honored to continue to serve on these committees as an advocate for people all across the Great State of Nevada on some of the most important issues facing our communities,” added Heller.
