Assistant Secretary of Defense for Acquisition

The Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Acquisition (OASD(A)) provides oversight and policy direction to the Secretary, Deputy Secretary, and Under Secretary of Defense (Acquisition, Technology and Logistics) on matters relating to DoD's acquisition system.

The Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Nuclear, Chemical, and Biological Defense Programs (NCB) develops policies, provides advice, and makes recommendations on nuclear weapons; chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) medical and non-medical defense; safety, surety, security, and safe destruction of the current chemical weapons stockpile; nuclear, chemical, and biological arms control activities; and related plans and programs.

    On April 1, 2011, the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics directed the DASD(DT&E) to concurrently serve as the Director, TRMC. Since then, these two organizations have been transforming into a world-class team of professionals focused on improving DT&E planning and execution, building the professional workforce, maintaining state-of-the-art T&E facilities, and providing data-driven support to the DoD Components. Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Installations & Environment (I&E)

    The Basing Directorate oversees basing initiatives and real property management for the Department of Defense worldwide. Assistant Secretary of Defense for Operational Energy Plans & Programs (OEP&P)

The Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Operational Energy Plans & Programs advises the Secretary and Deputy Secretary of Defense on operational energy security and reports to the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology, and Logistics. The mission of the office is to help the military services and combatant commands improve military capabilities, cut costs, and lower operational and strategic risk through better energy accounting, planning, management, and innovation.


Human Capital Initiatives Directorate

The Human Capital Initiatives Directorate is responsible for executing all workforce responsibilities identified in DoD Directive 5000.52 to include department-wide DoD AT&L workforce strategic planning, policy, and programs


Acquisition Resources & Analyses Directorate

The Office of the Director, Acquisition Resources and Analysis (ARA) integrates the diverse aspects of Defense acquisition into a balanced and coherent program that supports the National Strategy and makes the most effective use of resources provided.


International Cooperation Directorate

The Office of the Director for International Cooperation supports the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics (AT&L) in all aspects of international cooperation, develops policy for international cooperative armaments programs, and provides the Under Secretary a single, integrated picture of international cooperative activities.

Small Business Programs Directorate

The Small Business Programs Directorate advises the Secretary of Defense on all matters related to small business and is committed to maximizing the contributions of small business in DoD acquisitions. The Directorate provides leadership and governance to the Military Departments and Defense Agencies to meet the needs of the nation's warfighters, creating opportunities for small businesses while ensuring each tax dollar is spent responsibly.


Administration Directorate

The Directorate for Administration serves as the central focal point for all Office of the Under Secretary of Defense Acquisition, Technology & Logistics civilian and military personnel programs, organizational management, space, facilities, supply management, security, information management, travel, O&M budgeting, and training.


Defense Procurement & Acquisition Policy (DPAP) Directorate

The Defense Procurement & Acquisition Policy (DPAP) Directorate is responsible for all acquisition and procurement policy matters in the Department of Defense (DoD). The DPAP office serves as the principal advisor to the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics (AT&L) and the Defense Acquisition Board on acquisition/procurement strategies for all major weapon systems programs, major automated information systems programs, and services acquisitions.

The Joint Rapid Acquisition Cell provides a single point of contact in the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) for tracking the timeliness of immediate warfighter need actions for the senior leadership and facilitating coordination with other government agencies.


Defense Science Board

The Defense Science Board provides the Secretary of Defense, the Deputy Secretary of Defense, the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and, as requested, other Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) Principal Staff Assistants, the Secretaries of the Military Departments, the Commanders of the Combatant Commands, independent advice and recommendations on scientific, technical, manufacturing, acquisition process, and other matters of special interest to the Department of Defense.


Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Manufacturing and Industrial Base Policy

The Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Manufacturing and Industrial Base Policy is responsible for ensuring that DoD policies, procedures, and actions: (1) stimulate and support vigorous competition and innovation in the industrial base supporting defense; and (2) establish and sustain cost-effective industrial and technological capabilities that assure military readiness and superiority.


Office of the Director of Corrosion Policy & Oversight

The Office of Corrosion Policy and Oversight is responsible for addressing the needs and meeting the goals of the DoD's Corrosion Prevention and Mitigation Program. The Corrosion Office develops Corrosion Prevention and Control (CPC) strategies for the DoD, and oversees their implementation through the CPC Integrated Product Team (CPC IPT).


Missile Defense Agency

The Missile Defense Agency's (MDA) mission is to develop, test, and field an integrated, layered, ballistic missile defense system (BMDS) to defend the United States, its deployed forces, allies, and friends against all ranges of enemy ballistic missiles in all phases of flight.
