Contracting (FAC-C)

The Federal Acquisition Certification-Contracting (FAC-C) certification program is for Federal acquisition workforce members performing contracting and procurement activities and functions.

The FAC-C program has three levels. At each level there are specific education, training, and experience requirements. To find out more information about the requirements for each level, click on the links below.

Training

Continuous Learning Points (CLP) Requirements

In order to maintain their FAC-C, a workforce member is required to accumulate 80 Continuous Learning Points (CLPs) every two years. More information on CLPs is available in another section on this site and from your agency’s acquisition career manager (ACM).

Contracting Competencies

Competencies refer to the knowledge, skills, and abilities a workforce member must have in order to perform their contracting duties. Below is a link to the most current sets of competencies for the FAC-C program.

In addition to the OMB Policy memo and the FAC-C Competency Model, the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) maintains the Qualification Standards for persons in the GS 1102 [contracting] series.
