- On Oct.4, 2007, a criminal complaint was filed against Jose Francisco Maciel-Jaramillo, aka Franki Maciel, for transporting illegal aliens in violation of Title 8 USC 1324 (alien smuggling resulting in death or serious bodily injury). On or about Oct. 3, 2007, in Brooks County, Texas, Maciel-Jaramillo allegedly crashed a 2007 Dodge pickup truck. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) special agents responded to the scene of the overturned vehicle in a remote area in Falfurrias, Texas. At the crash scene, there were four undocumented aliens from Mexico. They were thrown from the vehicle. Three were deceased. One of the deceased was a 7-year-old girl.
