January 30, 2013 1:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
In 1973 when a coalition of Arab nations attacked Israel the intelligence community was caught off guard. On Wednesday January 30, 2013, the CIA Historical Collections Division will present a symposium on the role of intelligence in the 1973 Arab Israeli at the Richard Nixon Presidential Library. The event is co-sponsored by the Richard Nixon Foundation and the Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum.
Middle East experts, historians, former policymakers and intelligence analysts will offer insights into the historic events. The presentation will highlight the CIA’s publication of more than 400 declassified documents – 200 released for the first time – in a collection that includes more than 100 “Situation Reports” prepared daily during the crisis.
