Liver Recipient: Houston, TX

Armed forces veterans Marie and Rickey Weathersby know the importance of organ donation. Their son, Mikey Weathersby, received a lifesaving liver transplant at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston when he was only five months old.

Today, Mikey is a thriving six-year-old and looking forward to first grade. He loves to collect stickers and play basketball with his older brother, Kendall. The Weathersby family has continued to give back to their community as LifeGift Vital Volunteers. They’ve even gone to Austin to lobby for change and advocate for those waiting for transplants.

Mikey’s story is courtesy of LifeGift, Houston, TX.
