As part of its ongoing outreach to independent inventors, entrepreneurs, and small businesses, the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) will once again host a Saturday Seminar at the Elijah J. McCoy Detroit satellite office on March 9, 2013. Representatives from the Detroit satellite office and the USPTO headquarters in Alexandria, Va., will be on hand to conduct the all-day workshop.

This free event will provide valuable information about various types of intellectual property protection and the patent process, including a patent searching session presented by representatives from the University of Michigan’s Patent and Trademark Resource Center. A representative from the Department of Commerce’s BusinessUSA initiative will also be on hand to provide an overview of the services they offer and discuss BusinessUSA’s "no wrong door" approach for small businesses and exporters. A representative from the Small Business Administration’s Economic Development Office will talk about creating business plans, which are important tools for inventors and entrepreneurs alike.

There is no fee to register, but space is limited. For more information, please call 866-767-3848. To register, please email Katrina.harling@uspto.gov.

The Detroit satellite office is located at 300 River Place South, Suite 2900, Detroit, Mich. 48207.
