Weather Flights
In the field and focused on operational weather, Weather Flights are located at military installations around the world and are the prime interface with that installation's flying and ground operations. They are the eyes forward, using real-time radar, satellite imagery, sensor readouts, and visual observations to observe and forecast local or deployed conditions. When needed, combat weather flight members deploy with the unit, providing a familiar faces and the same high quality support they receive on the home front.

Air Combat Command - Air Force Weather Units
Mission: Directs Air Combat Command weather operations. Develop policies, plans, and requirements for support to ACC Numbered Air Forces and wings, plus CONUS Army units. Manages resources to meet operational requirements of Air Force and Army components of USCENTCOM, USJFCOM, USSOUTHCOM, USSTRATCOM and USNORTHCOM. Establishes standards, evaluates effectiveness, and conducts staff assistance visits to 73 active and gained weather units involving more than 1,500 personnel. |

Air Education and Training Command - Air Force Weather Units
Mission: MAJCOM functional manager ensures Air Education and Training Command weather units are organized, manned, equipped and trained to support diverse AETC and Air and Space Expeditionary Force missions. Provides policy, procedures and guidance for weather operations and support. Conducts Air Force standardization and evaluation and AETC assistance visit programs. Integrates AETC mission needs in Air Force's acquisition process. Provides direct support to AETC commander, staff and crisis action team. |

Air Force Materiel Command - Air Force Weather Units
Mission: Air Force Materiel Command/A3O provides functional leadership and oversight of operational and research, development, test, and evaluation weather support in the command. Develops command-unique operational weather policy and guidance, validates environmental support requirements, performs technical assistance and compliance oversight for all AFMC field weather units, and ensures personnel are AEF-ready. Facilitates continuous product and process improvement by providing the technical foundation for aerospace environmental support, enabling AFMC to exploit or minimize environmental effects on the development and operational employment of all Air Force systems throughout their life cycle. |

Air Force Reserve Command - Air Force Weather Units
Mission: Provides leadership and oversight for Reserve weather program and Air Force Reserve Command weather operations. Develops policies and procedures for personnel utilization and training. Advises the command on weather impacts to AFRC weapon systems, operations and forces. Develops contracts, performs cost comparisons, conducts management studies and manages contracted weather support at AFRC bases. Conducts staff assistance and Air Force Weather standardization and evaluation visits. |

Air Force Space Command - Air Force Weather Units
Mission: Integrate terrestrial and space weather intelligence into Air Force Space Command operations. Provide functional oversight for AFSPC units applying terrestrial and space environmental support to AFSPC and NORAD operations. Advise the command on the impact of the terrestrial and space environment on AFSPC systems and operations. Develop weather operations policy, procedures, and standards within AFSPC. Develop, collect, and document AFSPC terrestrial and space environment requirements. Translate AFSPC weapon system performance specifications into detailed space environmental requirements. Coordinate space-based space environmental sensing requirements among various DoD agencies, including AFWA and HQ USAF/A3O-W. |

Air Mobility Command - Air Force Weather Units
Mission: Air mobility weather operators develop and provide processes and guidance to enable the safe, efficient, and effective employment of airlift, air refueling, special air mission, and aero-medical evacuation operations for the maximum intended military effect. Develops weather operations policy and standards for AMC operations. Provide advice to command leadership on weather impacts to AMC weapon systems, operations, and forces. Develops, manages, and monitors weather force readiness and deployment capabilities. Provides guidance to USTRANSCOM as the Senior METOC Officer. Functionally manage 12 flights, an Operational Weather Squadron, and weather forces assigned to the TACC and two contingency response wings. |

Air National Guard - Air Force Weather Units
Mission: Air National Guard Weather is responsible to the ANG Director of Air Operations for oversight and management of weather support to the Air and Army National Guard. ANG Weather has the functional oversight of 45 wing combat weather teams, 26 weather flights, 13 non-wartime tasked contract and civil service weather sites, and the Weather Readiness Training Center. ANG Weather works closely with Air Force Weather and MAJCOM weather to ensure mission requirements are met. |

Pacific Air Forces - Air Force Weather Units
Mission: Responsible to the Director of Air and Space Operations, Pacific Air Forces, for providing or arranging weather support to staff and operational forces to enhance the combat effectiveness of PACAF, Army, joint, and combined operations. Evaluates and provides functional management advice to PACAF weather forces. Develops deliberate and contingency plan support, command policy and guidance, standardized procedures, and career field training requirements for PACAF weather forces. Manages and monitors force readiness and deployment capability. Monitors the health and sustainment of fixed and tactical weather equipment and identifies new system requirements. Provides staff weather support in meeting the air component needs of USPACOM. |

U.S. Air Forces Europe - Air Force Weather Units
Mission: U.S. Air Forces Europe/A3W plans and directs operations and employment of USAFE weather forces supporting Air Force, Army, joint and combined operations across the U.S. European Command area of responsibility and in support of Operations Joint Forge, Joint Guardian, Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. Advises EUCOM on METOC operations. Organizes, trains and equips theater U.S. Air Force Weather forces. Develops weather operations policy and plans. Advises NATO, EUCOM, USAFE, USAREUR, SOCEUR, and Joint and Combined Task Force commanders concerning weather effects on operations. |
