Former Member

If your membership expired less than two years ago, you have the option of late renewing or rejoining.   If your membership expired two years ago or longer, you will need to rejoin CAP.   The first step to either rejoining or late renewing is to contact your local CAP squadron and talk to the commander about reinstating your membership.  To find a local CAP unit, please use our online unit locator.

Late renewing - Former members whose membership expired less than two years ago, but more than six months ago can late renew.   Members choose to late renew so that their records show no break in service and their grade is reinstated.  In order to late renew, you will need to submit a new fingerprint card and one year of dues to cover each year that your membership was expired.   That will get your membership back on track as if you never left. To find out how much you will need to pay in dues, please contact Membership Services at membershipservices@capnhq.gov  or 1-877-227-9142 option 1, then follow the prompts.

Rejoin - Former members may choose to rejoin if they do not want to pay back dues or if their membership expired more than 2 years ago.  In order to rejoin, you will need to first contact a local CAP squadron.   Then submit a fingerprint card, a new senior member application and dues for one year (visit our How to Join page for a downloadable application and a link to our dues table).  Your records will reflect a break in service and reinstatement of grade will be at the discretion of the squadron commander.

Are you looking for your old CAP records?
As a private corporation, there is no requirement for CAP to maintain permanent membership records.  The current CAP policy requires local units to maintain personnel records on former members for five years; then the records are destroyed.

My membership expired less than six months ago, how do I renew?
You can renew online through your eServices account, calling membership services at 1-877-227-9142 option 1, or by mailing your dues to CAP National Headquarters.
