Steve Bernstein is the project officer for the AHRQ National Resource Center for Health Information Technology (IT), and a project officer and advisor on Information Technology (IT) for various Agency Clinical Informatics and other initiatives. Also, he is responsible for the development and operations of extranets to support information-sharing, collaboration, and knowledge management for the nationwide Practice-Based Research Networks, Prescription for Health, and health IT initiatives. Mr. Bernstein has served for four years as AHRQ's Chief Information Officer and Director of the Division of Information Technology Management. He provided for the upgrade and management of the Agency's state-of-the-art IT infrastructure, information systems, Intranet, extranets, e-mail, LAN, WAN, secure intramural network, secure data center, and information security.
Prior to 1997, Mr. Bernstein served as the Director of Information Systems for Logistics and Fleet Support for the Naval Air Systems Command in the Department of Navy and managed the successful development and implementation of some of the world's largest, state-of-the-art IT programs and information systems. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from Cornell University.
