Hazardous Information Programs


The Hazardous Information Programs provide policies and procedures to assist DoD personnel with the safe transportation and handling of hazardous / regulated materials. The Hazardous Information Programs also encompass Warfighter Environmental Sustainability which includes hazardous minimization and development of new environmental / green products and services.

Our Programs

The Hazardous Materials Information Resource System (HMIRS) is the central repository for information on hazardous materials used by DoD.   HMIRS is an automated system containing Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) information and item-specific value-added data such as transportation, logistics, and disposal data and OSHA-compliant hazardous warning label information.   Click on the link to read more or to contact the DLA HMIRS focal point.

Hazardous Technical Information Services (HTIS) provides technical assistance in the areas of environment, occupational safety and health, transportation, packaging, storage and handling, pollution prevention and logistics related to hazardous materials.
