There are two types of membership within the ACC: 1) an account; and 2) community membership. An account gives you broad access to many ACC resources, while community membership lets you participate in specific communities that interest you. You must have an account in order to get membership to a specific community. Advantages associated with each type of membership are listed below.

Benefits of having an ACC Account
Much of ACC's information is publicly available. Having an ACC account provides additional capabilities that guests do not have:

• Access peer/expert contact information (personal profiles);
• Create your own professional network;
• Request to join a community;
• Suggest knowledge or edits to existing knowledge;
• Create and share bookmarks for sites internal and external to ACC;
• Subscribe for updates;
• Blog about subjects that interest you;
• Create RSS feeds;
• Store and share personal files on your profile page.

Benefits of Joining a Community
In addition to the account capabilities, community members have the following additional capabilities:

• Ask and/or answer questions;
• Connect with members/experts with a shared specific interest;
• Receive community-wide emails;
• Access restricted community knowledge.
